CHRISTMAS LIGHTS OF LOVE
At certain times of the year, but perhaps particularly at Christmas, we are moved to ask God to care for those we love, those about whom we worry, and those whom we miss. At St Mark's at Christmas time, we encourage people to do this by buying a special candle for the person, by writing on it their prayer, and by lighting it at the High Altar on Christmas Eve. The candle burns over Christmas night and throughout the following days as a sign of your prayer, and as an addition to the beauty of the church at this time of year.
The candles, which are available in red, white or blue, cost £2, and can be bought and dedicated in church at any point in the run-up to Christmas, including Christmas Eve itself. In addition to service times, the church is usually open between 11:00 and 1:00 on weekday lunchtimes, between 10:00 and 12:00 on Saturday mornings, and between 9:00 and 12 noon on Sundays. If you prefer, you can write your dedication and put it with the £2 per candle donation in an envelope and put it through the vicarage letter-box next to the church in St Mark's Road. We will do the rest.
Your prayer can be for any person, living or departed; or for any other matter that concerns you and that you wish to lay before God.
"The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it." (John 1:5)
